| TSUCHI NO YADO JAPAN & AUSTRALIA
Hiroko Kimura believes that people have the right to live comfortably and in peace. She created Tsuchi No Yado in Okinawa, Japan and Adelaide, Australia, as spaces ‘beyond borders’, where people of all cultures, ages and abilities are welcome. Here they can share with each other, in the spirit of understanding and peace. 'Tsuchi' means 'earth' in Japanese and 'Yado' means 'a place to stay'. As the earth has the ability to accept and embrace unconditionally, so too the 'Yado' welcomes people of all cultural backgrounds, age and ability. Tsuchi no Yado are meeting places, where visitors and guests can relax, reflect and refresh nurtured by nature and peace and quiet. Hiroko hopes that during the guests ‘time out’ they will also reflect on such issues as peace, disability and the environment and how more positive change in the world can be brought about. TSUCHI NO YADO - OKINAWA, JAPANTsuchi No Yado Okinawa was set up by Hiroko in 1984 as a guest house catering for people with or without disabilities, shortly after she decided to make the blue watered islands of Okinawa her home. ....... ....... TSUCHI NO YADO - ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIATsuchi No Yado Bed and Breakfast is situated in South Australia, 30 km south east of Adelaide in the historic and leafy hilltop German village of Hahndorf. |
